Endless Days of Summer by Samantha French

Samantha French paints realistic images of people underwater and her striking renditions of water as it ripples, bubbles, and breaks with each body is quite amazing. The New York-based painter gathers inspiration from her Midwestern upbringing where lazy summer days of childhood spent in the lakes of Northern Minnesota forms the foundation of her work. According to her, “These paintings are a link to my home and continual search for the feeling of the sun on my face and warm summer days at the lake. They are my escape, a subtle reprieve from the day-to-day.” The interplay of shadow and light on each submerged swimmer evokes a stillness and tranquility only felt in the presence of water and is perfectly captured in each image by French. Original oil paintings can be purchased from her site and archival prints are available at her Etsy store.
