Artist Creates Sugar-laden Landscapes

Tanya Schultz of Pip & Pop creates sugary floor installations we all wish we could wallow in every once in a while. The vividly colorful concoction of sugar, candy, beads, toys, and other psychedelic materials form a mini-landscape complete with frolicking does, hills, trees, and even mushrooms. The Australian artist’s pastel confections are inspired mainly by stories of worlds made entirely of food which, surprisingly, exist in many countries. According to her, “I’m fascinated with folk tales and mythologies about paradise and utopia, especially lands made of food. Places where you can eat everything you desire, like the Dutch Luilekkerland, where candies fall from the sky, pastries grow on trees, and mountains are made of pudding.”
