Cosmos-Inspired Garden of Speculation

Sure botanical gardens are a great way of preserving and showcasing nature’s beauty for the wonderment of all. But the Garden of Cosmic Speculation, as its name suggests, is not your run of the mill garden. It belongs to Charles Jencks, an internationally acclaimed architect, critic, and designer who created this fantastical 30 acre garden in his own backyard in Dumfries, Scotland with his late wife Maggie. The design was based on Japanese Zen, Persian paradise, English and French Renaissance gardens and the inspiration came from the cosmos. With areas such as “The Black Hole Terrace” and “The Universe Cascade” (a staircase representing how the universe developed over billions of years), this garden is complicated and we dare say, out of this world.
