Hundreds of Hot Air Balloons Set a New World Record

Every other year, a gathering of hot-air balloon enthusiasts meet at Chambley-Bussieres, a former NATO airfield in eastern France, to attempt to beat out the world record set by the same exact event every odd year. Spanning 30,000 square meters of flying space, the Lorraine Mondial Air Ballons festival sent 433 hot air balloons collectively up in the air breaking the previous world record of 391 set back in 2013. The event is expected to see over 300k visitors to attend the impressive and colorful show lasting through August 2.
