Is That a Scrubba in Your Pocket?

Weighing a mere 6 oz., the Scrubba may just be the new ‘It’ item for every backpacker, adventurer, and outdoor explorer out there. Add a gallon of water, soap, soiled clothes, and some elbow grease, the one of a kind handheld washing machine can wash clothes in as little as 30 seconds. The revolutionary idea of the smallest washing machine that can fit in your pocket was conceived by Ash Newland, a patent attorney in Australia, who found himself questioning how he was going to clean the few changes of clothes for his hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro. The thought of a washboard came to mind but they didn’t exactly have pit stops, or sinks for that matter, on the way up the summit. According to Newland, “It was then that I had the revelation that if we could incorporate a highly flexible washboard into a waterproof sealable bag, we could change the way people wash clothes while traveling.” Through IndieGoGo’s crowdfunding, his idea came to be and now anyone can look and smell their best even on the go.
