Magnificent Sculptures Made Out of Ordinary Objects

Tara Donovan takes the ordinary and elevates it from the tiny thing that it is to a massive work of art. Nothing is too simple for the New York based artist who has taken items such as drinking straws, foam cups, No 2 pencils, and buttons and transforms them beyond the obvious. Donovan transcends the physical limitations of everything she works with and admits that a discerning eye is key to seeing the potential of an item. The concept usually starts out with her experimenting on her own and once she’s figured it out, her team works with what could be tens of thousands of one item to fabricate the finished product.
