There aren’t a lot of things that surprise us nowadays except maybe for a couple of nuns who fastidiously grow pot in their home for medical marijuana. Shaughn Crawford and John DuBois documents the daily lives of the Sisters of the Valley who are not exactly nuns in the traditional sense of the word as they are neither Catholic nor religious. So why the habit? Sister Kate (Christine Meeusen) has this to say: “If you look up what makes up a sister, there are five elements. We live together, we wear the same clothes, we take a vow of obedience to the moon cycles, we take a vow of chastity (which we don’t think requires celibacy), and a vow of ecology, which is a vow to do no harm while you’re making your medicine.” Sister Kate and Sister Darcy Jackson cultivate and harvest cannabis in accordance to the cycles of the moon in their workshop in California but since going viral last week, their cannabis products have since been removed from Etsy. The duo currently has plans to add the ability to purchase their products straight from their website.
