Abandoned Fountain Transformed Into a Mini Water Park

People typically associate the term ‘spa’ with expensive massages and relaxing in white bathrobes on lounge chairs but the ‘Urban SPA’ in Parque Ureta in Mexico doesn’t quite fit the bill. Together with Mexican design studio Memela along with other professionals, students from the Institute of Architecture and Design Chihuahua transform an unused park fountain into a temporary mini water park through some ingenuity and carpentry. Using scaffolding and other recycled materials, the space around the fountain was converted to accommodate lounge areas, makeshift sun-beds, and decorative planters thus giving the formerly antiquated structure new life while bringing the community together at the same time.
