Back to Light: Using Fruit as Energy Source to Power Light Bulbs

Environmental artist Caleb Charland created a series of organic batteries in his Back to Light series from fruit and copper wires. Each light bulb provides enough light for long exposure photographs. Charland explains, “This work speaks to the common curiosity we all have for how the world works as well as a global concern for the future of earth’s energy sources.”
