Beautiful Paintings by 5 Year Old Autistic Girl
Budding young artists usually illustrate something familiar and tangible but for Iris Halmshaw, her works of abstract art has already been compared to French Impressionist, Claude Monet. The 5 year old from the UK was diagnosed with autism at age 2 and her parents were urged to let Iris paint to aid with some basic skills for therapy. Since then, the solitary activity not only became a creative outlet for the talented little girl but has also become an effective way to quell bouts of tantrums. Since her story published in 2013, her works have been sold all over the world and have retailed for over $1,000 a piece. An exhibit showing is in the works to raise awareness about autism currently affecting around 100,000 children in the UK.
