Blacksmith Breathes Life to Metal Bolts
What many of us would have seen as a pile of odds and ends bolts left behind by some weekend project, Tobbe Malm saw them as characters with stories to tell. The Norway-based blacksmith and photographer found bolts left behind in a farm in Sweden and it immediately reminded him of human figures. Putting his skill to work for the series ‘Bolt Poetry,’ he heated and forged the scraps of metal to mimic human poses each evoking an emotional reaction. According to him, “I tried to create relations, meetings, and situations and suddenly stories emerged about sorrow, joy, pain, warmth and humor.”
