BLESS HOME Reinvents the Brick-and-Mortar Shop

Fashion designers Ines Kaag and Desiree Heiss of BLESS have always challenged the idea of the traditional brick-and-mortar shops by dabbling in pop-up boutiques. But a few years ago, the duo got together with Exhibition Designer Mira Schröder and came up with BLESS HOME Berlin where items under their brand is sold in a space where Schröder lives in. Consumers can purchase pieces right off the shelf as in a conventional store and products are replenished as necessary. The challenge of mixing home and workspace comes about when visitors come by unannounced but overall, Schröder has found her visitors and the experience to be enriching. According to Schröder, “The borders between private and public blur. The urge to explore my privacy and one’s instinctive hesitation and shyness really fluctuate.” She finds that there are those who tread cautiously knowing that it’s someone’s private space and those who make themselves at home instantaneously. To take a peek at this sales adventure, BLESS HOME is open twice a week on Thursdays and Fridays and by appointment.
