Brandalism Reduces Ad Pollution in UK

Brandalism is a movement against big corporate marketing and advertisements that proliferate the streets of the UK. The guerilla teams of activists behind the campaign switches out ads seen in special keyed billboards often found in bus stops and switches them with works from 40 artists from around the world. According to their site, “It is a rebellion against the visual assault of media giants and advertising moguls who…force-feed us with images and messages to keep us insecure, unhappy, and shopping.” The campaign started with two friends back in July of 2012 and this year has seen biggest takeover where over 350 ads were replaced across 10 cities in the UK over the course of 2 days.
