Celia Smith Sculpts Birds to Look Like Sketches

Is it a bird? Is it a sketch? Well, it’s kind of both. British artist Celia Smith has used various types of wires and cables to create avian structures so intricate, viewed as a photograph, they resemble drawings, and viewed for real, are almost lifelike. The mesmerizing installation includes a copper wire and telephone cabling “Robin” and “Mumeration of Starlings,” a flock of 60 feathered friends crafted from paper coated telephone and steel wires.
