Classical Paintings Bring a New Spin on Street Art

Inspired by a painting he saw at The Louvre, Julien de Casabianca sets out to bring classical paintings to the streets where common folks like us can have access to historical paintings without having to visit a museum. The French visual artist and filmmaker’s project has garnered a worldwide interest and a global movement to bring art to the streets with a technique he freely shares on his site. Anyone can get involved by using their phone to take a picture of an artwork in a museum, printing it on paper with glue-resistant ink, and pasting it on a wall using wallpaper glue. From Paris to Madrid, ‘The Outings’ project blurs the lines between street and museum-quality art for why art is really made for and that is for people to see and enjoy.
