Designer Turns Trailer Into Luxurious Home

When people think of mobile homes, thoughts of cheap housing in the form of a giant tin can comes to mind but when Amy Shock came upon an opportunity to buy a double-wide for 5k with a glorious view to boot, she tricked it out to the max. The designer used to live in Beverly Hills but was getting tired of maintaining her then sizeable 4 bedroom house. After a year and around 180k in renovations, Shock added 500 to the original 800 sq ft home for a painting studio, installed all-new electrical, plumbing, cabinets, solar glass windows and doubled the outside deck among a bevy of other upgrades. Perhaps the most dramatic transformation comes in the addition of floor-to-ceiling glass panels that give the living room its wide, open feel. As for the breathtaking view, Shock says, “I can see towards the ocean and watch the clouds roll like the surf into the Ojai valley. That’s really spectacular to feel that close to the ocean.”
