Friendly Martian Visit the Streets of Ann Arbor

David Zinn brings a friendly alien to mingle with earthlings through his chalk art creation Sluggo. The Michigan graphic artist brings a smile from passersby as he places Sluggo throughout the streets of Ann Arbor and most notably, from the city’s Summer Festival where he has been a favorite staple of the crowd for years. Becoming a chalk artist happened spontaneously for Zinn who would take to drawing with chalk while taking creative breaks from the computer and called that time simply as “brainstorming.” As ad hoc as his street art came to be, the development of the tiny martian was just as spontaneous. Sluggo was once just a passenger of a wagon he was drawing but kept reappearing in his drawings and soon became his signature character.
