Frozen Bouquets Offer a Fleeting Show of Beauty

Azuma Makoto assembled large bouquets of flowers and froze them in a solid block of translucent ice for a magnificent installation aptly called ICED FLOWERS. The botanical artist’s organic installation took place inside an abandoned warehouse 2 hours outside of Tokyo as part of the artist’s ephemeral projects previously featured. Azuma’s art focuses on the effects of other forces on the exotic blooms he arranges and though the 16 blocks of frozen arrangements will soon melt and wither, the fleeting sight of beauty frozen in time was a sight to behold.
