How Alice in Wonderland Came to Life

Like opening up a time capsule from technologies of years past, the following images show how much work and time was spent on making animated movies pre-cgi era. Ten year-old Kathryn Beaumont, who was the voice behind Alice and Wendy Darling in Peter Pan, also became the Disney animators’ muse for the character and even modeled some action shots as reference for the film. The vintage photographs offer a glimpse of what made classic Disney movies so legendary from the hand-drawn references to the effort spent on capturing realistic movements using real models.
