James Chapman Illustrate Common Noises in Different Languages

Research has shown that a variety of facial expressions are universally recognized around the world but apparently, common noise-making actions and expressions are as different as our languages. UK-based illustrator and physicist James Chapman creates posters to demonstrate how kissing, snoring, and even chewing sounds like in different countries. The series of translations are created with cartoon figures that makes for an entertaining way to get schooled on what sounds you should come to expect when you visit another country. The most eye-opening part in all of this for us? Animals in other countries sound different than their American counterpart.
