Kenyan Artist Transforms Trash Into Incredible EyeWear Sculptures

What most people sees as just a pile of trash, to Cyrus Kabiru, is a treasure trove of eye-wear possibilities. Sparked by an early love for glasses but getting refused of owning a pair, the multi-disciplinary Kenyan artist scours the city of Nairobi to find the right balance of flashy and creativity to construct his wearable sculptures. Transforming electronic refuse into detailed works of art, each unique bifocals, or what Kabiru fondly refers to as “C-stunners,” are a reflection of his highly individualistic style. Besides being a self-taught painter, Kabiru teaches in his own outreach program where he holds workshops to teach others how to give trash a second life through art.
