Kim Alsbrooks Puts Fine Oil Portraits on Scraps of Trash

The contrast couldn’t be more dramatic, the message any more clear. Philadelphia artist Kim Alsbrooks has created a project entitled “My White Trash Family” whereby she has recreated oil paintings of elegant historical figures and emblazoned them across squashed beer cans and fast food containers. The idea was born after living in the South where she became disillusioned by the residents’ obsession with class.
