Mall Debuts Spectacular Swirling Flouncy Skirts

Just in time to usher in Spring, acclaimed Canadian artist Heather Nicol unveils ‘Soft Spin,‘ an art and sound installation that has ‘cheery’ written all over it. The giant, swirling skirt sculptures were commissioned by Arts Brookfield for the debut of Brookfield Place, the newly renovated lifestyle complex and entertainment destination in New York City. Consisting of almost 165 yards of fabric with hemlines of up to 94 feet, the graceful spinning skirts produce a soft chorus of voices singing songs as a tribute to the former use of the space as a performing arts center. The installation is available for public viewing until April 24th from 8am to 10pm at Winter Garden at Brookfield Place on 230 Vesey Street.
