Massive LED Art Installation Lights up Malaysian Town

If we had to describe Jun Ong‘s latest art installation, we would say it looks like a time-traveling electric star that accidentally got wedged into an abandoned structure on its way out of a portal and according to his inspiration, we’d say we’re pretty close. The term ‘glitch’ describes a voltage spike or change in an electric current and the Kuala-Lumpur based architect used this meaning to represent the promising possibilities that awaits Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia, the once previous bustling mainland that the light sculpture ‘Star’ is located on. The sprawling 12 point dodecahedron is made up of over 1600 feet of steel cables and LED strips stretched across several floors of an unfinished building and looks absolutely majestic when completely lit up. ‘Star’ will be available for viewing throughout 2016.
