Miniature Libraries Foster Literacy and the Arts Around the City

Throughout recent years, kids have been putting up their own book exchange programs in homemade bookcases around their neighborhoods and The Indianapolis Public Library took the same idea and expanded it on a much larger scale. In collaboration with artist Rachel M. Simon, The Public Collection campaign was launched to improve literacy, cultivate an appreciation for local artists, and promote education and social justice around the community. Resembling sculptural works of art, the bookcases are located in various parts of the city and displays a wide range of free books where anyone can take and leave books as they wish.
