Mothers with Their One Day Old Babies

Jenny Lewis’ One Day Young is a magical series of newly minted mothers photographed with their babies within their first 24 hours of life. A home-birthed child herself, Lewis was most interested in capturing women who had their babies in their own homes before the outside world sullied the experience. The photographs are amazingly tender, joyous and beautifully capture each mother’s pride in what she’s just brought into the world. (Above: Jenny and Nora)
