Photographer Captures PDA All Over New York

Julia Xanthos captures the familiar feeling we’ve all had before when we were young and in love in her new series #younglove. The photojournalist for the New York Daily News set out on the journey of documenting couples demonstrating unabashed affection for each other all throughout the Big Apple. Like most of us, Xanthos’ felt unease when she saw couples kiss publicly until she made a conscious effort to look at it in a romantic way: “For a long time I had a ‘get a room’ point of view when I saw a couple locking lips. But it wasn’t until I changed my attitude to ‘Isn’t that beautiful?’ that my whole world sort of flipped.” Over a year in the making, she credits Peter Turnley’s ‘French Kiss‘ series to spark her own collection of love gathered from all over New York’s five boroughs.
