Photographer Captures the Beliefs of Folk Medicine From the Middle Ages
Marwane Pallas displays human parts of the body using fruits and vegetables in the ‘Doctrine of Signatures.’ The series is based on folk medicine from the Middle Ages that was rooted upon the belief that some plants and herbs can be used to treat certain parts of the body they resembled. The London-based self-taught photographer creates a clever visual with each food pairing featuring a striking resemblance with each representation.
