Real Toy Soldiers of the Western Sahara

Simon Brann Thorpe brings to light a decades-long conflict that has taken over the Western Sahara in a project called ‘Toy Soldiers.’ Collaborating with a military commander from the Polisario front, an independence group, the soldiers helped construct the platform they stood on and willingly posed as life-size versions of the classic plastic green army men toys we are all familiar with. The poignant series was captured on location of where past battles took place between the Polisario Front and Morocco further emphasizing the drawn-out affliction over the much disputed region of Northwestern Africa.
