Science Rules: See the Lightest Metal in Existence
Aerospace giant Boeing recently released a video showcasing the lightest metal structure in existence–the Microlattice. Composed of a network of extremely thin struts, the material is 99.99% air and is akin to the hollow architecture of bone. In fact, it’s ten times lighter than Styrofoam. But despite its lightweight structure, the Microlattice is surprisingly strong, which seemingly makes it perfect for use in aerospace technology and advanced vehicles. Yeah, science!
