Spooky Photos of Car Graveyard

Theo van Vliet and Marcel Wiegerinck captures images of a forest full of vintage automobiles in ghostly silence as the natural landscape slowly grew over and around the car graveyard in the village of Chatillon in Southern Belgium. As anyone would have guessed, the eerie scene has an interesting story behind it. This scene dates back to World War II when American soldiers stationed in this location acquired the vehicles and hid them in the forest because shipping them back home proved to be too expensive. It is still unknown where and how the officers were able to acquire the cars during a time of strife but since coming back home, no cars has been retrieved from whence they were neatly parked in the woods. As many as 500 antique vehicles spread among 4 car graveyards once dotted the small village and none remain today after an environmental cleanup laid the cars to their eternal rest several years ago.
