Stitched Leaves Formed Into Delicate Sculptures

Dried leaves and other objects found in nature are transformed into delicate sculptures under the careful hands of Susanna Bauer. Prominent threads on each transplanted piece and removed part is evocative of medical procedures with Bauer as the meticulous surgeon poring over each of her fragile patients. Ever so gently prodding and bending each untreated leaf, the German sculptor uses tiny hooks and needles to manipulate each tender leaf to take on a completely different shape and form.
