Stunning Aerial Photos of Human Towers

David Oliete captures stunning aerial images of people working together to form human towers. Castells have been a distinctive part of Catalonia’s history since the 18th century. The tradition have survived a depression, a bloody civil war, and a dictatorship and recent years have seen a revival of the cherished event. The northern region part of Spain have 60 Catalan competitive tower-building clubs where anybody and everybody are welcome to join from young ballerinas to great grandfathers. Recent years have seen an emergent of new rules where helmets are now required for youths scaling the top tiers and practices are held several times a week to minimize accidents. The highest human towers built to date reaches an astounding 10 tiers.
