Surf Sauna Offers Respite for Cold Weather Surfers

For surfers who may not have the luxury of polar-vortex-free days, consider Surf Sauna to be the marshmallow on your hot chocolate. As anyone would have guessed it, the idea came from surfers braving the cold New England waters for the love of the sport. It took a team of craftsmen and Port City Makerspace (a co-op shop providing space and tools to the community) to turn the concept into reality. Fabricated from naturally rot resistant and antimicrobial Western Red Cedar, the customizable ‘adventure mobile’ can be sized to fit from 2 to 8 people. Everything else is made from marine grade galvanized and stainless steel to handle years of beach and saltwater abuse. The finished product comes with a hi-lift jack and a shovel but optional upgrades such as an off road kit and Bluetooth wireless speakers, among others, are also available.
