Sweet Technology to Quench Your Sweet Tooth

The time is near when the iconic Hershey bar will become a thing of the past. A multi-year partnership between3D Systems, providers of 3D printers and innovative 3D solutions, and The Hershey Co was announced just last week. The collaboration will produce new forms of delectable confections and a whole new way to experience and enjoy the tastes of a familiar brand.

3DS’ is at the forefront of creating 3D edibles. The company showcased the works of ChefJet at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month presented by SugarLab’s wife and husband team who pioneered the whole idea of 3D printing using sugar. The display consisted of bowls of multicolored candies and chocolates in the form of spheres, cubes, and pyramids built from sugar loaded into ChefJet Pro and created in layers from the bottom up. The ChefJet Pro could even be used to create more intricate work such as wedding cake toppers or any customized multidimensional culinary creation. According to SugarLab’s Kyle Von Hasseln, “it will be the first and only kitchen-ready, bakery-ready, 3D printer for food” and it will be available in the later half of 2014.
