Swiss Photographer Christian Tagliavini Re-Imagines Medici Portraits in Painstaking Detail
Swiss-Italian photographer Christian Tagliavini has re-shot some sixteenth century masterpieces in real-life. The series, entitled “1503,” is a recreation of the works of Italian master, Agnolo Bronzino, who painted a series of highly influential oil portraits of the Medici family of Florence. Tagliavini’s attention to detail and lighting is exquisite, made even more impressive by the fact that he also designed the costumes, built the set and casted the subjects. Classic and contemporary merge beautifully.
