The Effects of Drugs As Told Through Minimalist Posters

Meaghan Li creates a juxtaposition with “This is your brain on drugs,” a set of minimalist posters displaying the potential effects of different drugs on people. The self-taught graphic artist designed the series as part of a Psychology project at Duke University where she is currently majoring in Public Relations. The clean, uncomplicated images set against the vibrant background is a stark contrast to an intense and touchy subject for many. By giving the posters a modern spin and making them visually appealing, Li hopes to change the way drugs are addressed in today’s society. According to her, “What I did want to avoid was fear-mongering and sensationalism. These tactics used for decades in nationwide PSAs that we’re all familiar with; I think that we’re ready for a generational shift in our approach towards drug policy.”
