This Rare Chicken Breed Doesn’t Skip Leg Day

The Dong Tao Chicken, a rare Vietnamese chicken breed, redefines the term “chicken legs.” It doesn’t have the typical thin and bony legs of an ordinary chicken, as it sports thighs that are more like Beyonce’s than Ariana Grande’s. And no, they aren’t genetically-altered either. This unusual variety of fowl that’s endemic to the Dong Tao commune in Khoai Chau district was once exclusive to the royal family and mandarins. Now, it’s prized by chicken breeders, since a pair of these can fetch up to $2,500. Its legs are also a delicacy, which are often served in expensive restaurants. Colonel Sanders probably would’ve drooled for one of these if he wanted to come up with something extra-premium for KFC.
