Ubiquitous Items Turned Into Whimsical Illustrations

Step into the world of Javier Perez and you’ll find that the often-overlooked items we use everyday take a life of their own in a whole new light. With paper and pencil in hand, what comes out of the creative mind of the Ecuadorian artist is a clever transformation of otherwise ubiquitous items. A battery turned into a scuba tank, 2 orange slices turned into a pair of lungs, and half of an Oreo converted into a globe offer a glimmer into Perez’s imagination. His whimsical illustrations are reminiscent of Dr. Seuss’ “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” in that something is never just what it looks like, but rather lies in the eye of the beholder.
