Watch This Furry Mirror Come Alive

We’re still unsure whether to pet or be creeped out by Daniel Rozin‘s PomPom Mirror. The interactive installation playfully reflects the actions of the person standing in front of it with the help of Microsoft’s Kinect camera positioned right above it to track one’s movements. It took NYU professor and interactive artist 928 faux fur pom poms, 464 motors, and some computer code to get the 4 by 4 foot fur mirror to mimic on command. The push and pull motions of the pom poms create quite an intriguing effect that almost looks like an illusion were it not for the video below showing us exactly how the entire wooly mechanism worked.
