You Wouldn’t Believe What This Bridge is Made Out Of

If someone told you to cross a bridge made out of paper, would you? That’s exactly what Steve Messam made PaperBridge out of. The UK-based environmental artist created the freestanding arch from 22,000 sheets of paper in the English countryside over a stream in the Grisedale Valley, Patterdale using nothing but the physics of compression. Surprisingly, knowing what it’s made of hasn’t stopped over 7,000 visitors from crossing it until it was taken down in May of this year. Seeing such a powerful visual against the green background of the country, the eye-catching structure practically beckoned to be walked on.
