Alexandre Farto Murals Deconstruct Urbanity
Artist Alexandre Farto’s (a.k.a. Vhils) grand murals depict faces in cities around the globe. With chisels, drills, jackhammers and sometimes even explosives, he imprints the watchful eyes of the portraits in urban environments to both watch over and make a statement about their surroundings. He states, “My work is really concerned with trying to question the reality we live in…so it deals with social urbanity.”
