Artist Adds Modern Twist to Ancient Japanese Art Technique

Segawa thirty-seven merges the tools of today with an ancient art technique to put a modern spin on some Japanese woodblock prints. Using Adobe Photoshop and After Effects, the Tokyo-based artist adds a creative twist to the static images by adding contemporary elements to the otherwise traditional prints. Adding Segways, a bullet train, and a spaceship among others, Segawa’s animated gifs create an amusing and dynamic melding of the two art forms.
