Artist Turns Parents’ House Into Life-Size Gingerbread House

Christine McConnell turns her parents house into a gingerbread house straight out of the classic children’s fairy tale Hansel and Gretel. The artist and photographer has always been fascinated with the Brothers Grimm story so instead of going with the traditional decorations like she’s done in the past, she decided to dress her parent’s house with a bit of a magic this season. With power tools in hand and a some craftiness, McConnell designed, painted, and installed everything on the house from the twisted nylon rope on the roof to for icing down to sewing all the outfits for the photo shoot. The entire project took seven 15-hour days, almost $700, and a couple of her nieces to play the part of Hansel and Gretel.
