Bodies Entangled in Motion

Leah Yerpe draws human bodies in motion in such incredible realism that it’s hard to believe they are not products of stop-motion photography. The native New Yorker got her start in painting and actually still prefers the look of abstract images but have since switched to drawing with charcoal and even with the humble mechanical pencil. Taking up to 300 hours to complete, a closer look at one of her life-sized illustrations reveal the tangle mass of bodies is actually of one person in different poses, given free reign to dance and move as they choose for Yerpe to recreate into an overlapping sophisticated collage.
