Giant Red Ball Invites Play Across the Globe

Kurt Perschke has been spreading joy all over the world with his art installation titled Red Ball Project. The inflatable ball is a hefty 250 lb and 15 feet wide in diameter and has traveled the globe from Abu Dhabi to Korea. The Brooklyn-based artist has squeezed the scarlet sphere in between buildings, bridges, columns, and pathways. Reactions to the bright, whimsical and very interactive art display ranges from people throwing themselves at it, pushing it, and understandably, giving it a big bear hug. According to Perschke, the project is really not about the ball itself but about the reaction and wonder it draws from people: “Through the magnetic, playful, and charismatic nature of the RedBall the work is able to access the imagination embedded in all of us.”
