Japanese Wooden Blocks Offer Endless Building Possibilities

As a great alternative to Legos, these blocks offer yet another opportunity for people of all ages to unleash their inner architect. Designed by internationally renowned architect Kengo Kuma, who was recently selected to build Tokyo’s new Olympic stadium, ‘Tsumiki‘ (Japanese for “wooden blocks”) is a set of triangle-shaped blocks made with Japanese cedar from the Miyazaki Prefecture. The 4 in. by 4 in. triangular blocks are incredibly smooth to the touch and contain little notches at the bottom of each, enabling one to create a variety of stacking and nesting configurations. With a completely different shape altogether, Tsumiki opens a whole new realm of building possibilities.
