Loving Husband Spends 2 Years Planting Epic Garden for Blind Wife
A great love story is like chicken soup for the soul and this one is sure to give any cold-hearted miser the warm fuzzies. As Mr. Kuroki from Japan’s Miyazaki Prefecture witnessed his wife slowly sink into depression from losing her vision as a result of diabetes, he did what any man smitten with love would do for his lady. The loving husband dedicated himself to two years of back-breaking work, clearing the land and planting a carpet of pink flowers called shibazakura, or moss phlox, in hopes of drawing his wife out of her loneliness and maybe getting a guest or two to visit her. Ten years later, thousands of people visit the Kuroki’s private garden to take in the beautiful sight of the blooms and to possibly catch a glimpse of the love-struck couple.
