Mobile Library Provide a Sense of Community to Toronto Town

The Story Pod by architecture firm Atelier Kastelic Buffey (AKB) is a grassroots project that has community written all over it. Located in the historic district of Newmarket in Toronto, the compact, mobile library was funded by wealth advisors Holliswealth and developed for gratis by AKB. The well-thought out design of Story Pod enabled Newmarket town employees, none of whom were professional carpenters, to assemble the standard plywood and lumber construction easily. In the daytime, Story Pod opens up like a book to let visitors sit in the lounge area to enjoy a book or two while at night when the doors are closed, the exterior slats enable light to pour out from the energy-efficient LED lights in the interior providing a soft ambiance to everything and everyone around it.
