OK Go’s Latest Video Reaches New Heights

When OK Go (previous) makes a music video, you know it’s never going to be just some flashy lights and backup dancers. The American alternative band continues to break barriers and amazes yet again for their latest single “Upside Down and Inside Out.” The one-of-a-kind zero gravity production involved 3 weeks spent in Russia being schooled by professional cosmonaut trainers and with help from the Russian airline S7, the group secured a cargo-type plane and built a set to look like the inside of a passenger plane within it for the video. Using the line “Gravity’s just a habit” from their new song as inspiration, Damian Kulash, Tim Nordwind, Dan Konopka and Andy Ross went on 21 flights with 15 zero gravity ascent/descent parabolas to practice their aerial maneuvers before the final shoot. The planes could only descend at a maximum of 27 seconds at a time so for the final take, experts had to morph 45 minutes worth of weightlessness to make the video look seamless. Be sure to watch the behind-the-scenes making of the video below to see the series of 8 flights it took to create the final cut.
